A orillas del lago del mismo nombre, esta ciudad de ensueño de la Alta Saboya disfruta de un entorno idílico, rodeada de agua y montañas nevadas con unos colores únicos. Su casco antiguo evoca muchas historias y desde el principio nos transporta a cuentos y leyendas, por ello muchos visitantes no dudan en situar aquí, sin ningún fundamento histórico, la historia de La Bella y la Bestia. Desde luego lo merece.

Antes que nada conviene dar un paseo por los jardines que discurren paralelos a la orilla del lago con los Alpes en el horizonte. Dicen que sus aguas son las más limpia y transparentes de toda Francia. Tras atravesar el puente de los Amores, sobre el primer canal que vamos a ver, nos dirigimos hacia el interior de esta ciudad de cuento. En el puente sobre el río Thiou disfrutaremos de una de las vistas más simbólicas y emblemáticas del país: el palacio de la Isla. Se trata de un diminuto espacio donde se ubica el antiguo palacio de los condes de Ginebra.

El recorrido por el barrio medieval es una delicia, sobre todo si se tiene la suerte de coincidir con el día de mercado y se puede probar el típico vino caliente. Se puede subir al castillo para tener una visión general con los tejados rojizos
