Reacción De Meléndez A La Suspensión De Dos Años Impuesta Por La USADA: “Soy Un Peleador Inactivo. Lo Que Yo Le Ponga A Mi Cuerpo No Es Asunto De Los Demás”


El ex-peleador del UFC y ex-campeón de Strikeforce y del WEC, Gilbert Meléndez, recibió una suspensión de dos años debido a que dio positivo en una prueba antidopaje administrada por la Agencia Antidopaje de Estados Unidos (USADA por sus siglas en inglés).

La prueba fue realizada en octubre de 2019, así que los dos años de suspensión empiezan a contar a partir de aquella fecha, por lo que Meléndez podrá volver a competir a partir del 01 de noviembre de 2021.

Sin embargo, todo este tema no tiene mucha relevancia porque Meléndez fue liberado por el UFC en noviembre de 2019. Además, Meléndez no entra a una jaula de MMA desde su caída por decisión unánime a manos de Arnold Allen en el UFC 239 de julio del mismo año. De hecho, el propio Meléndez se refirió a este tema en unas recientes declaraciones entregadas para ESPN. De acuerdo a Meléndez, él tiene todo el derecho a utilizar las sustancias que desee porque ahora está alejado de la competición:

Gilbert Meléndez: "Soy un peleador inactivo. Fui liberado del UFC antes de que este test fuera realizado. Pienso que (la USADA) no tiene jurisdicción sobre mí. Soy un ciudadano privado y lo que yo le ponga a mi cuerpo no es asunto de los demás".
